Busses are quite active on
the Internet. Here are the first two links - by means of
which I have started talking with my presumed distant
cousins. Both are well worth repeated visits.
And one day I received a letter from Allan Inkpen in
Australia!
Dear Michael Buss,
I am certain we are related! My mother's name was
Irene Buss, born 15.9.15 in Kent (I think). Her
father was George Stanley Buss (known as Stan) and
Catherine Chamberlain (nee Case). George had a
brother, Vernon. George and Catherine had 8
children, my mother the eldest. Both brothers and
their families came to Western Australia in 1923.
Mum unfortunately died on 18.4.97 and of course it's only
when you lose someone you realise all the unasked
questions. She did however make it known to us that
we were related to Mary Frances Buss and as Mum was an
artist and clever story writer, she was pleased to say
one of our relations was in fact an illustrator for
Charles Dickens! George Stanley's father was I believe
also named George and his wife, Ada. She was
Jewish. Mum told us there were cousins in England
related to the Case side of the family. I would
love to be able to seek them out! If you could help me
with any info relating to my great grandparents, their
direct ancestors etc., that would be great. Thank
you. Glenda Inkpen; nee Hughes.
PS My grandparents had a dairy farm in Hatfield,
Herts. before migrating to Australia with five children
and were part of the Group Settlement Scheme in our
Southwest, where the other three children were born.
