THE SCHOOL HYMN
         (Tune: “Luckington”) (with intro)

The wide world calls from mountain, mere and brake,
“Awake! Awake!
Piled peaks that fret the sky,
Deep woods where jackals lie,
Plains stretched without relief,
Seas roaring on the reef –
All earth’s glad joys are theirs who love the best,
And brave the quest!”

The hero calls,  “Some vict’ry long delayed
Demands thine aid –
Great nations still enchained,
Whose freedom must be gained,
Great causes to be won,
By daring deeds well done!
Arise! Arise, and battle for the right,
With all thy might!”

The future calls, with dreams of kingdoms new
Beyond our view!
Height after height unveiled,
As each new height is scaled;
And Jesus leading on.
However far we’ve gone!
Press on! Press on, with all thy heart and nerve,
Thy King to serve!

T. A. Jefferies
