A NEW HOME ON THE INTERNET
FOR OLD CENTAURS
From The Derby Evening Telegraph
09:30 - 01 August 2005

Former pupils of Central School, in Abbey Street and Darley Park, Derby, can now keep in touch via the internet.

The Old Centaurs, as they are nicknamed, have been put on the net by former pupil Michael Buss, who now lives in California.

Starting earlier this year with a few photographs and his own memories, he slowly tracked down more than 20 old boys who have provided the materials to assemble a reconstruction of the old days.

Articles from the Evening Telegraph and photographs from Derby's Local Studies Library feature on the website.

But Mr Buss said: "Most credit goes to the old boys themselves who have found great delight in being able to share their own photographs and memories.

"The site is an evolving project ."

Mr Buss is now combining the many stories into a coherent single history of the school.

He has drawn on his own skills as a playwright and software engineer to develop the site.

Mr Buss was a pupil at Derby Central School in 1958, when it moved to Breadsall Hilltop and became Henry Cavendish School.

The website can be found at www.mbuss.com/central.htm

"Thank you, Derby Evening Telegraph - Ed."
